Drawbacks of Home Solar Power Systems

Can you completely stay off the grid if you invest in home solar power systems? The answer depends on where you live and how much power you need. For example, even if you live near a desert or in a desert itself but need to power so many appliances in one go, the energy you produce for your home may not be enough. So before you go switching to a home solar power system today, you should first consider what you need, how you need it, and why solar energy may or may not be the answer for it. Assess your house’s capabilities. If your house is new, then odds are it’s already built to generate solar power on its own.
Now, as much as I advocate the use of home solar power systems, I am also blunt enough about their disadvantages. Yes, they have disadvantages — and there are three of them that I could think of now, not just one or two. The first is cost. Solar panels can be expensive to build or buy more so if you are not using ‘Earth4Energy’ as a guide. The second drawback is weather dependence. You’ll find yourself always wishing for a sunny day. After all, if there’s no sun, what can you harvest? Finally, we come to the third drawback – geography. Solar power is only feasible and practical when on any given day, you get enough hours of sunlight (direct, mind you) to heat up your roof. If you don’t, you would be much better off staying on the grid while you look for any guide that is as effective as ‘Earth4Energy.’
